While applying patches for PeopleSoft or Oracle, I generally create a TODO list and print it to make sure I go through it while apply in each environment. I provide the details below. I might have missed some thing that I feel for me is not required, but it might be required for someone else. I strongly recommend going through all the documents that are published by Oracle for your reference. This list can be useful incase you missed anything from there. Also note to check the patches for PeopleSoft versions you have. I prefer to install Oracle DB patches and PeopleSoft patches separately with the gap of minimum 2 weeks after applying in production, even though it requires two down times. This way you need not get confused on which patch is breaking. One needs to decide to apply them togather or individually depending on the downtime availability and the customization, testing etc involved with your systems. If you are managing PeopleSoft HRMS environment, tax update is one of the important and routine procedure which you would be doing mostly once every two or three months. One of the uniqueness of HRMS applications is that it involves pay calc run very 15days (in US it is 15 days and other countries it may be once a month) and every pay calc is crucial as it involves every employee of the company including the top executives.
If the pay calc was wrong and the pay checks were sent out and the Bank files are transferred, then it takes lots of effort from the entire team to fix it back, besides the beatings from the management. I wanted to have a list of PeopleSoft customers, for many reasons. If you are some one who is looking for job or you are looking for potential customer if you are a consulting company. So I started preparing one. This list mostly for me and also share the information with others who are in PeopleSoft skill set. Since it is taking lots of effort and time, I am providing this document to view to the registered members only for now. These information are already available in the internet but they are scattered. What I am doing here is collecting it and putting togather for the benefit of everyone and of course also for me.
