Hi
In order to install PeopleSoft pls follow the the below mentioned Steps preferrably in the same order given:
- Install Database Server( SQL Server or Oracle)
- Install BEA Weblogic
- Install Tuxedo
- Install PeopleTools
- Install Application(HRMS/Finance/CRM)
- Create a Database and run the Datamover import scripts
- Intall PIA
- Configure Webserver and Process Scheduler Services
It is not possible to explain each process in details or if anyone has any specific questions or would require any help in PeopleSoft installation feel free to mail me at

If you are trying to use non-unicode database then it will take lots of space. Try unicode and you might be able to install in lesser space.

Hi,
Thanks for your response.I need this for learning purpose.So I understood that I need demo database.
So I need to start from the stretch like installing oracle and select demo database in that
or I can login to datamover and select demo database and run the script again.
And one more question how much memory space is needed to run epddl.sql(finance) script.

If you are going to use it learn about the features with some data, you need to reinstall with the DEMO option.
If you already know the features and want to use it for other purposes like testing the features or importing data from legacy system or want to enter data from scratch manually "SYSTEM" should be fine.
Depending on your requirement, you can decide on what to do.
In any case, it is good to have a demo instance running to see how the delivered code works for each version of Tools and Application you have running in your company or client.

Thanks for your reply.
While I configured the database I selected System instead of demo.
And one more thing I chose the option PeopleTools System database . This was the only option i got for selecting the PeopleSoft Application.
Now I found out that I didnt create the application database.So I installed the application (-finance) in my PS_home directory.(might be this may be the reason for no VP1 or PS user id.)
And from your reply I understood that I selected system instead of demo and another mistake I didnt install the application.
Is there any way to do the same at this point or I should start from the stretch from createdb scripts

Normally if you install DEMO, it should have either VP1 or PS user id and also many other user ids for checking the functionalities by logging into PIA with different user ids.
If you checked DEMO database while installing and still not there then there is something wrong with the installation.
Check the logs. I understand you are able to start PS and APP servers after adding the roles.

There is no user like VP1 OR PS when I review the page user profiles.
After seeing your reply I added processscheduler admin role to the user PSADMIN and I tried starting the process scheduler.And I can start the process scheduler process now.
I hereby attached a screenshot.Please review the same .In that for application release: peopletools(

Guessing might be something I missed in installation that is the reason I am not having any user id like VP1 or PS |

You should have Roles to VP1 or PS. Mostly if it is Finance/CRM it should be VP1 and for HRMS it should PS. Check and compare the roles between VP1/PS and PSADMIN, if you have that user id already.
Try to give "PeopleSoft Administrator" and "ProcessSchedulerAdmin" roles to the user id.
Also post what are the roles that VP1/PS has and PSADMIN has if you still have problem. |

Hi,
I tried to create,config and start the app server and I got this error message
"Database Signon
: Invalid user ID or password for database signon. (id=PS)"
After that I checked in PSOPRDEFN table and find out these entries.
OPRID
------------
PSADMIN
PTADMIN
PTDMO
PTPORTAL
PTSECADM
PTTOOLS
PTWEBSERVER
So I used PSADMIN to create,config and start the app server.This time I didnt get that error message.And when I try to boot the domain 11 proccess has started.
Next I tried login to Application Designer using PSADMIN which is allowing me(but not with VP1 or PS)
Next I tried to login to peoplesoft sign on page using PSADMIN which is allowing me(but not with VP1 or PS)
After that I tried to config the process scheduler with PSADMIN but no success.
All these things I have done before getting ur reply.And from ur reply I found that I need to do with VP1 or PS.
So I am just wondering is there a way to find out why my VP1 or PS entry is not there in PSOPRDEFN table. |

How you were able to create the user id PSADMIN where you are not able to login in PIA. Also you should start the App Servers using VP1 or PS as this is the user id which has permissions to start and start the App servers.
Please check on that why you are not able to use these two user ids. The user id PSADMIN may not have permission to start the app server. Check on the permissions for this user id. |
