As a member of the Oracle Production DBA team, will provide database administration services for a wide variety of mission-critical production applications to ensure an efficient and reliable environment. Our production team consists of 20 DBAs that support approximately 1500 Oracle instances in a high-availability, managed services environment. Driving reliability and performance into the Oracle platform. Supporting Oracle instances in production to ensure stable environments. Performing database administration and management activities in a safe, recoverable and professional manner that ensures the optimal operation of all database environments. Upholding enterprise policy guidelines and recommending new and improved guidelines to ensure high availability and stability. Resolving production issues. Identifying potential service level problems before they occur and notifying appropriate parties. Logging support cases as necessary and effectively working with Oracle Corporation to resolve issues. Maintaining up-to-date plans for disaster recovery and fail over capabilities. Proposing solutions, identifying tools, and generating procedures to ensure an efficient, consistent repeatable environment. Maintaining security according to best practices and generating security solutions that balance auditor requirements with user requirements. Participating in 24x7 on call support rotation as required (about 3 weeks out of every year) |
| Qualifications |
· 8+ years experience as an Oracle DBA supporting production databases in high availability Unix environments · Specific expertise with Oracle 9i, 10g and RAC · Proven experience with installs, patches, upgrades, migrations and disaster recovery for production databases · Thorough knowledge of Sun Solaris and/or IBM AIX platforms · Experience creating (or at least following) standards, policies, procedures and/or processes related to DBA activities · Proven ability to work through SRs with Oracle Corporation technical support · Prior success working within structured systems development processes · Demonstrated diagnostic skills · Proven analytic skills and strong judgment · Ability to work effectively with others and share knowledge to ensure team success · Prior experience working within a managed services environment preferred · Experience with OEM, OID and/or Oracle Data Guard desired · Knowledge of performance tuning also of value |
