Position – Assistant Director – IT Architecture
Location – Qatar , Middle East
Department – Operations
Reporting to - Director IT Architecture & Application
Purpose:
A leading member of the IT Architecture team. Leads the development of the Group IT Architecture modelling effort.

Context:
• The group IT department provides leadership and expertise in the Group IT arena. IT technologies and IT /IP networks are becoming increasingly integrated with previously independent traditional telco networks and systems. Accordingly, the IT role will be merged over time into other technology roles. The department maintains close contact with operating company IT Directors and senior IT Application Manager to ensure increasing standardization, harmonization and interoperability of applications and systems.
• This role will work closely with Group IT Directors and IT Architects to promote best practice, sharing expertise and promoting the IT Architecture programme.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Lead the implementation and rollout of IT Architecture across the group, using the IBM System Architect tool.
• Lead the capture of the As Is architecture from group IT departments.
• As Is capture on-site at group companies, or remotely from the Headquarters
• Training, mentoring and development of IT Architecture skills across the group
• Training, mentoring and development of expertise with the IBM System Architect tool across the group
• Participate in developing the To Be architecture
• Build relationships with IT across the group, to promote Architecture best practice.
• Act as group owner of the IT Architecture models.
• Responsible for maintaining the models in a current state
• Responsible for maximising the use of Architecture and the tools to maximise business benefits.
• Analysis of the As IS and To Be models to develop roadmaps converging on a common To Be architecture.
• Participate in group wide synergy and harmonization initiatives in IT Architecture and Applications
• Establishment of Group-wide KPI’s for IT Architecture
• Development and Maintaining a group wide IT Applications inventory and IT Application Roadmap
• Process owner on group level for IT processes related to IT Architecture
Qualifications Minimum Entry Qualifications
• 12 years experience out of which at least 5 years directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
• University degree in appropriate area
• Previous experience in implementing and maintaining IT Architecture programmes.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
1) Capture and document the As Is architecture across all opCos
2) Develop the System Architect metamodel to support the Group
3) Rollout System Architect tool across all OpCos, supporting training, modeling and utilization
4) Develop the target architecture and gap analysis and roadmaps from the As Is to the Target
Skills
Technical
• Knowledge of key mobile telecom IT systems, platforms and technologies, including hardware and software components
• Ability to explain key aspects of technology innovation, information systems, and networks to key people
Behavioural Competencies
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of cultures in a diverse community
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, including ability to foster a cooperative work environment
• Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations to boards and senior management
