| Job Description | The job is located in Richmond, VA with one of our Fortune 500 direct client. They are looking for a Database Administrator – III and the following is a more detailed description of the job.
Duration: 24 months Job Description: Responsible for the design, development and administration of transactional and analytical data constructs/structures. Included within those responsibilities are the areas of data access and delivery technologies. Includes Oracle, Teradata. DB2, SQL Server. Duties include performance tuning, monitoring, software installs and upgrades, UNIX shell scripting, and physical and logical database design. ••Demonstrable experience developing Unix Korn Shell scripts •Demonstrable experience with cron scheduler •Demonstrable experience with Oracle 9i and above •Demonstrable experience with PL/SQL including writing and optimizing code in PL/SQL using various tools such as TOAD, SQL Navigator and SQL Developer •Hands on experience creating an Oracle Database, creating application structures including implementing security using roles •Familiarity with any Change Control Tool – (basically understands the need for an audit trail of change requests) •Familiarity with any on-call procedures •Familiarity with any type of scheduler (does not have to be controlm, but definitely not cron as a scheduler) •Demonstrable experience with Unix – Skill level – Master (preferred Hp-UX and/or SUN OS) •Demonstrable experience with Oracle Backup/Recovery Methodologies and Strategies •Accountable for maintaining database configurations in compliance with established best practices •Oversee data fixes for business issues or to address application issues •Accountable for the setup of proper backup and disaster recovery procedures •Develop and maintain an in depth understanding of the database architecture and the general application functionality used to maintain data integrity •Performs performance analysis and enhancement of SQL queries •Independent position requires excellent organizational skills •Ability to communicate with upper level management •Ability to multi-task and handle periods of high stress •Investigate potential problems and issues raised by users •Tuning and troubleshooting Oracle instances •Knowledge of other Oracle advanced features RMAN, RAC, GRID, Physical and Logical Standby, Failover methodologies, etc. Other Criteria considered controlm, RMAN, HP-Service Desk, BEN (Project1) •Application specific experience – SUN IDM (or any other IDM), BMC IDM, BMC or any other Role Manager, etc. •Experience as Production DBA in IT Operations •Advanced Unix Knowledge Administration, different disk technologies, disk replication, etc. •Demonstrable experience with other DataBases TeraData, SQL*Server, DB2, etc. •Familiarity with ETL Tools like AbInitio, DataStage, Informatica, etc. •Familiarity with Web Applications. •Knowledge of any other programming languages, like .Net, Visual Basic, Java, etc. If you are qualified, available, interested, planning to make a change, or know of a friend who might have the required qualifications and interest, please call me ASAP at (212) 381-1120 Ext.583, even if we have spoken recently about a different position.
